9/30/2009 - I want to thank all of you who attended the registration on Saturday. It was a pleasure meeting all of you. For those of you who intend to register, I implore you to do so as soon as possible. I know registration expires 11/30/09 however I need to have a better idea of the number of kids that will be playing much earlier than that in order to order uniforms, equipment, retain referees etc. The 11/30/09 date is for late registrants. I will be meeting this week with our committe to discuss changing the deadline to register to 10/31. The earlier I know how mnay children will be playing the better I can prepare for the season. Again, if you are planning on registering, please do so as soon as possible. We will hold one more in person registration for those of you who can not register on-line. The date will be announced shortly.

9/23/09 - Just a reminder that registration will take place this Saturday at the Town Pool Building between 10am and 2pm. Games and practices will be held Monday through Friday. No weekends. Hope to see you all there. Don't forget, you can now register online.

9/10/09 - There will be a registration held on Saturday 9/26 in the main lobby of the Town Pool building located on  Phelps lane. Registration will be held between the hours of 10am and 2PM for those who wish not to register online. Please make your checks payable to NBAC Basketball in the amount of $99 per child.

9/8/09 - You can now register online. Registration will continue through 11/30. I will be holding an in person registration towards the end of September. The date and time will be published shortly. We know we are in difficult times and with that in mind, my staff and I worked very hard in developing a budget that we hope will be satisfactory to all. This season's registration fee will be slashed to only $99 per child. We have done this with out cutting any programs or activities. In fact we have added some.

Flyers and letters will be going out shortly. I urge all of you to sign up for some type of volunteer work when registering. The more volunteers we get, the more likely we will be able to maintain this low registration fee in the future. Again, I look forward to working with all of you.

8/24/2009 - I am pleased to announce the addition of Jerry Powell to my team. Jerry has been training kids from middle school to high school, through college and works out several leading NBA players. In the last four years, he developed four McDonald’s All-Americans and currently works out hundreds of players at Basketball Results. In 2008, for the first time he was rated 10/10 as trainer, ranking #1 in the country. He’s been on TV – Battle Ground Nike ’06 and Kobe Disciples, and you can catch him on YouTube. But no words or video can express the tireless dedication and energy that Jerry delivers when he’s working out his players on the court.
Ask Jerry about his background and he humbly brushes it off to shift the focus onto what means most to him – developing basketball players. “It’s not about me, my background. It’s all about getting people better.”
Jerry is the epitome of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. His gift for training and enthusiasm he demonstrates with each and every work out has proved to be a combination for success. He always has had a deep passion for working hard and pushing himself to the limit with basketball development.
Three things that he reminds kids are always to respect their parents, do the right thing in school, and work hard in life because you’re not guaranteed anything. He realizes that things take time, but if you do good work, you can reach your goals.
Jerry will be in charge of player development. I look forward to working with Jerry for the upcoming season.

Just a reminder, registration information will be available shortly.

8/19/2009 - We are currently preparing the budget for the 2009 - 2010 season. The budget should be finalized within the next week. Following the finalized budget, I will be publishing revised registration information. I will also be sending out emails to all that have participated in the 2008 - 2009 season. If you did not participate in the 2008 - 2009 season or you did participate but did not provide email information and you want to be on the email distribution list, please send me your email information to cklages@nyl.com. I hope you all had a great summer and look forward to the upcoming season.

8/12/09 - I am the incoming NBAC Basketball Commissioner. I would like to thank outgoing commissioner Clara Carter for all of her efforts and hard work. I will be working very closely with Clara Carter over the next months, obtaining valuable information to help me with the transition.

I moved my family to North Babylon 17 years ago. I am married with five children. All of my children attended the North Babylon schools and all of my children grew up playing NBAC sports. I‘ve coached NBAC basketball since 1992 and I am involved in other NBAC sports (baseball and football) as well.

Our NBAC basketball registration has declined over the past years. I know many parents have enrolled their children into such programs as CYO, PAL and other town leagues. Although these are very good clubs. We need and want our children of North Babylon to come back to play in their own community. Increasing the enrollment is the first step on bringing the league back to the way it once was.

Although the season has just ended, I have already begun planning for next year. My first order of business is to establish a staff of volunteers that will be instrumental in helping me to steer the program in the right direction as well as assisting me to run the program efficiently. To be a successful commissioner is to surround yourself with people who share a common goal. These people are the parents and children of North Babylon.

I will need the support from everyone and I know with a little patience and us working together as a community we can turn this situation around.

PLEASE BRING OUR CHILDREN BACK TO NBAC

Each month from this point forward, I will be sending out information regarding our progress, keeping you informed as to what we are doing and trying to accomplish.

I want to thank you all in advance for giving me this opportunity and hope that I meet all of your expectations.
